Sculptra vs BBL

Sculptra vs BBL

In today’s culture, an hourglass and more curvy figure is the body type women and even men strive for. In the past, the ideal body was to be skinny and curves were frowned upon. Thankfully, we are branching out from that mindset and embracing curvy as beautiful. This being said, one body part that most want to enhance is the buttocks.

When trying to grow a lifted and larger buttocks, the gym can take years to get the results you desire. Even after years of exercise and weight lifting, your body may not be able to produce the results you had in mind. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures out there for enhancing your backside. Although it is popular, this procedure isn’t for everyone.

Many get turned off because the BBL is a medical procedure and there is a lot of down time. But is there an alternative? Sculptra, which is a FDA approved dermal filler, was once only used to add volume to the cheeks and other parts of the face. Now, Sculptra is used as a non-invasive alternative to the BBL. The question is, which one is the better option?

Continue reading a more in depth description of each of these treatments to find which one will work best for you.

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

The BBL is a two part fat transfer procedure used to enhance change the shape and size of the buttocks. This procedure involves liposuction to remove excess fat from either the hips, abdomen, lower back or thighs. This fat is then injected into the buttocks creating more volume and shape. This procedure takes anywhere from one to four hours depending on the desired look. The BBL gives you great and natural looking results compared to getting implants.

However, there are side effects that come with this procedure. With any surgery, there are always risks that can occur post op. These can include:

  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Severe pain and discomfort
  • Blood Clots
  • Fat embolism
  • Cardiac and pulmonary complications

After your procedure there is quite a bit of down time you will have to take for recovery. Recovery time after surgery can be anywhere from 3-4 weeks, but depends on the person and the extent of the procedure. During this time, for the first two weeks you can not sit or sleep on your back. There is absolutely no physical activity for at least the first week, and can gradually be introduced back into your daily routine at week two. This excludes exercise, which can not be done for the first 6-8 weeks.

You also are told to take at least two weeks off of work, which can deter someone from getting this procedure done. It is also recommended to not stretch the buttocks area for the first three weeks following the procedure. You can not submerge the area in water for the first four weeks due to the stitches and healing process. The recovery process is known to be tough on the body, this being the reason many women look for a less invasive option.

 Sculptra

The Sculptra butt lift is a non-surgical alternative procedure to rejuvenate and lift the buttocks with added volume. Sculptra is a type of filler that stimulates your skin’s natural collagen production, helping to restore the structure and increase volume that has been lost. This procedure plumps the buttocks by stimulating your body’s own collagen to regrow for long lasting and natural looking results.

When Sculptra is done, a filler made from poly-l-lactic acid is injected to the backside to add volume. If you are someone looking to add an extensive amount of volume and completely enhance the shape, Sculptra might not be for you. It is a more natural look and can last up to 5-7 years.

Some of the benefits of Sculptra are:

  • Improve a flat or saggy buttocks appearance
  • Contour and round the buttocks
  • Smooth out dimples and cellulite
  • Restore lost volume

One of the most attractive things about choosing Sculptra for your butt lift is that there is no down time. The procedure only lasts up to half an hour and there may be some minor bruising around injection sites. For optimal results, most physicians recommend three sessions of Sculptra that are spaced out every four weeks.

Which Procedure is Right for You?

When deciding whether to choose the Brazilian Butt Lift or Sculptra to enhance your backside, there are a few factors to take into consideration. If you are looking for extreme volume and an all over slimmer appearance the BBL may be your option. However, if you want long lasting, and natural results without downtime and recovery, Sculptra is your best option.

  1. A very well written and informative article.
Sculptra seems a very beneficial and body enhancing option for anyone wanting to make the most of their body!!

  2. I can’t see why anyone would use the BBL if they have the option to use Sculptra. It seems like there are so many more possible side effects with BBL.

  3. It sounds like Sculptra is the clear winner here. It does a great job and it doesn’t seem to have any of the possible side effects.

  4. Oh wow, I did not think that Brazilian Butt Lift was a thing but clearly I am so wrong!

I have always been on the curvy side, so I love that bodypossitivity is on the map right now. I just love the way that all sizes are seen as beautiful today 🙂
